Ganesh J. Prabu

Ganesh J. Prabu helps patent attorneys and technology companies evaluate wireless inventions, understand how patented technologies operate in commercial products, and develop technical evidence for licensing and litigation. A wireless engineer and patent-analysis consultant, he brings more than two decades of experience in telecommunications software, mobile devices, network systems, and intellectual-property analysis.

Ganesh’s engineering background includes substantial experience at Motorola and BlackBerry. At Motorola, he developed and optimized wireless protocol software, including radio-link control, data-flow management, and communications security. At BlackBerry, he led a team of 20 engineers and technical leads across the United States and Canada, supported the delivery of new devices and updates to existing products, and architected radio-resource-management software for QNX-based devices.

His experience extends to the interaction between devices and carrier networks. At Anritsu, Ganesh worked with carrier specialists to define acceptance-test requirements for LTE, Voice over LTE, and related services. At NetScout Systems, he worked on IMS-core monitoring, network-performance analysis, deployment automation, and migration of monitoring systems to OpenStack infrastructure. This work gives him firsthand knowledge of how communications technologies are implemented, tested, and deployed.

Ganesh has also held technical leadership roles in patent analysis and commercialization. He served as Director of Engineering at Acacia Research and as Vice President of Engineering in a consulting role with Longhorn IP. His work included technical management of wireless patent portfolios involving LTE, LTE-M, and 5G standards, evaluation of potential patent acquisitions, and support for prosecution, licensing negotiations, and litigation.

He has particular experience developing evidence of use through live and laboratory testing, protocol-log analysis, and reverse engineering. Ganesh examines device and network behavior across the physical, data-link, and network layers, prepares claim charts, and works with outside counsel and technical specialists to evaluate the relationship between patent claims and commercial implementations. He has also developed review processes for claim charts, technical analyses, and licensing due diligence.

Ganesh’s engineering and patent-analysis experience gives him a practical perspective on the implementation details that matter in patent preparation and prosecution. He helps attorneys assess technical distinctions and understand how claim language relates to system operation. His testing experience also supports evaluation of how the use of a claimed feature can be demonstrated in an actual product or network.

Ganesh is a named inventor on a U.S. patent involving adaptive classification for knowledge networks and on European patent applications concerning mobile-device power management and communications screening. His computer-science training includes machine learning, and he has co-authored publications addressing neural-network ensembles, modeling, and high-performance computing.

Ganesh earned his M.S. in Computer Science, with a focus on machine learning, from the University of Montana and his B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering from Government College of Technology, Coimbatore, India.
