Danielle Gross, Ph.D., helps life-sciences and technology companies protect innovation through patent application drafting, prosecution, and portfolio management. A registered patent agent with more than a decade of prosecution experience, Danielle works with inventors, in-house counsel, academic institutions, foreign associates, and multinational companies to develop patent rights aligned with their scientific and commercial objectives.
Danielle’s prosecution practice spans biotechnology, molecular diagnostics, medical devices, pharmaceutical compositions, organic chemical compounds, inorganic chemistry applications, material science, and mechanical technologies. She drafts patent applications, prepares responses to USPTO Office Actions, develops claim strategies, and advises clients on approaches for advancing applications through examination. Danielle also has managed multinational patent portfolios across multiple jurisdictions and supported patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses for pharmaceutical clients.
Her prosecution work is informed by extensive laboratory research in biochemistry, molecular biology, metabolism, and endocrinology. Danielle earned her Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Boston University School of Medicine and completed postdoctoral research at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Her research examined insulin signaling, cytokine signaling, pancreatic beta-cell function, glucose metabolism, catecholamine signaling, adipocyte biology, lipid storage, and the molecular pathways associated with diabetes and insulin resistance.
Danielle’s laboratory experience spans an array of technical modalities including viral expression systems, transgenic mouse models, recombinant cell lines, receptor-binding assays, cellular-signaling studies, protein purification, immunological imaging and microscopic analysis, in vivo metabolic assays, and endocrine biomarker quantification. Having designed experiments, interpreted complex data, and published scientific findings, she understands both how researchers describe their work and how to identify the broader inventive concepts that may support meaningful patent protection.
Before focusing her career on patent prosecution, Danielle worked as a medical writer supporting pharmaceutical and medical-device companies. She prepared clinical manuscripts, scientific reviews, abstracts, posters, presentations, and publication strategies involving both early- and late-stage therapeutics. That experience strengthens her ability to explain complex science clearly and develop patent disclosures that are technically accurate, logically organized, and accessible to examiners and other readers.
Danielle has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed scientific publications addressing insulin signaling, glucose transport, lipid metabolism, and cellular regulation. Her research was recognized through postdoctoral fellowship funding from the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and awards for excellence in scientific and nutrition research.
Danielle earned her B.Sc. in Biochemistry from McGill University and her Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Boston University School of Medicine. She is registered to practice before the USPTO.
